Hudson Valley Live/The Local Saugerties has partnered with Silver Sun Residency to offer artists and performing arts professionals from anywhere in the world the opportunity to stay in the heart of Woodstock NY in the Hudson Valley for 10-14 day free residencies. Guests are housed in a beautiful 19th century converted dairy farm on 12 acres, and provided with full access to a private house with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, common living space and a fully equipped kitchen, along with a large meeting room and an all-purpose communal workspace with wifi and media editing facilities. Silver Sun is located on the ancestral homelands of the Lenape and Munsee peoples.

  • Session 1 : Dec 1 - Dec 11, 2024

  • Session 2: Dec 13, 2024 - Jan 2, 2025

  • Session 3: Jan 3 - Jan 15, 2025

  • Session 4: Jan 17 - Jan 29, 2025

About The Silver Sun Foundation

The Silver Sun Foundation is a family philanthropy dedicated to providing support for professional creative artists, educators, cultural organizations and social change makers.

The Silver Sun Residence began welcoming artists in July 2019. Our mission is to offer creative professionals and change makers an opportunity to develop new work in a tranquil and supportive environment. Silver Sun encourages collaboration among peers, and assists our residents to create opportunities for interaction with the local community by participating in work-in-progress showcases and discussions throughout the year.

Residencies are offered by invitation only. Up to three individual artists or collaborative team members may occupy the facility together, and we are proud to support family residencies as well. Silver Sun collaborates with national and international partner organizations to develop annual residency programs. Residencies are free to all participants working in all disciplines.

The Residence is located 2 1/2 hours north of New York City in the heart of the Catskill Mountains in the Hudson Valley and within walking distance to the iconic village of Woodstock, NY. In Winter however, we do not recommend walking to the village as it is dark and slippery. We strongly suggest you have a car as there is no car service, and delivery is rare. 

  • The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Bedding and towels are provided.

  • Family, friends, collaborators, co-workers are welcome to join for all or part of your stay.

  • The stay at the house is free. You cover expenses while there.

  • You supply your own food. The kitchen has pots, pans, etc.

Criteria for a Hudson Valley Live/The Local Saugerties Residency at Silver Sun*

  • Must stay at least 7 days, and preferably 10-14 days.

  • Must have/rent a car.

  • Must be a musician, dancer or multidisciplinary artist or work in the performing arts or cultural fields. You do not need to be an artist to apply, however your primary work must be in the arts or culture fields in some capacity.

  • You do not need to have a project you are working on to apply. 

  • You can think of this residency as a time to renew in the beautiful Catskill Mountains in the Hudson Valley. 

  • If selected to apply, please plan to provide 2-3 references.
